The Tin Can Challenge is back for 2025!

A Tin Can Challenge? What the heck is that? If you’ve ever skied at Kamview Nordic Centre you should know.

The theme of this year’s Tin Can Challenge is a Murder Mystery. The Tin Can Challenge consists of finding all the tin cans hidden throughout the trail network in order to solve the murder. Everyone who finds all the cans AND correctly solves the murder will be entered to win awesome prizes!

Red tin cans will be hidden throughout the trail network. The tin cans can be hidden on any trail. Each tin can will be numbered. At each tin can there will be a weapon, location, or a suspect. Make sure to record the tin can number and the associated person, place or thing so that you can keep track of your game (taking pictures make this easy). When you’ve hunted down all of the tin cans, you will be able to solve the mystery by process of elimination!

Your playing card will have the tin can numbers on the front and a list of weapons, suspects and locations (along with a space to write your name and phone number). Cross the items off the list as you find them, and circle who you think committed the murder, with what, and where it took place.

To ensure you’ve found every tin can (and haven’t cheated), each numbered space on the card will need to be cut into with the patterned scissors attached to that tin can. If all of the numbers aren’t cut, or the cut pattern does not match that number, the playing card cannot be entered into the prize draw.

Playing cards can be purchased for $5. You can buy only one card at a time. If you complete the challenge, you can buy another card to go find the cans again. Each card submitted with the mystery solved (and no cheating) will be entered into the prize draw.

There will be three prize draws, including one grand prize. However, the more cards that are sold, the more prizes we will be able to give out.

The challenge is currently open and will run to September 27.  Playing cards can be purchased at any Blacksheep event. The playing cards can also be returned at any Blacksheep event.  The last chance to hand one in will be at the final DH race of the year.

We have to thank Kamview Nordic Centre for this event since we received their blessing to copy what they do for their trails in the winter time. Plus they’ve provided prizes!  Make sure to get out there and ski next winter.

There’s still a lot of time to go hunting, so here’s a first hint to help with your search:

1. No tin cans are south of the Highway this year.

Happy Hunting and Good Luck!
