2021 was our largest year to date and we wanted to share what we accomplished as a club. We wrote a fancy report and added some pretty photos to go with it. If the report is a little intimidating allow us to highlight a few of our favorite selections.

  • Our membership grew over 30% to 520 members in 2021.
  • We continue to host one of the largest weekly mtb race series in Ontario!
    • 206 unique individuals raced at least one race in 2021
    • We had at least 1099 individual racer starts
    •  Most attended race had 129 racers plus spectators!

  • We added a new annual large-scale race event to the schedule. The Ozzy 8 is an 8 hour endurance event where riders complete as many laps as they can. In its first show, and with limited planning time, there were 83 participants. With more time and planning in 2022 this event will be fantastic if the reviews from previous participants are any indication!

  • Trail development had another banner year with over 3.7 km of new trail built and many more maintained. It’s not free however. We had the help of many volunteers and paid crew to do it.

  • The 6th annual Shuniah Forty Miner  was made into a weekend event with World Cup racer Jenn Jackson kicking off the event with a keynote address the night before the race. The race was well attended with over 250 racers and over 500 people total in attendance. Definitely our largest ever.

  • $1.5 million secured to fund the Trowbridge Master Plan. The Balsam Connector was completed in summer 2021. The jumplines, pump track and new walking trails have been completed and a shade structure along with a new play structure will be added soon. Corridor has been cut and trail construction for the Trowbridge mesa trails will begin Spring 2022.

  • Social programs grew in 2021 with many group rides and the addition of Skills Clinics facilitated by certified MTB instructor Katherine Morency.

  • Grooming for fat biking continued in 2021. Our snow dog had a mechanical failure but lucky for us we have some awesome volunteers who helped pack the trails with snowshoes and one particular volunteer even donated time on his own snow dog to help out!

  • Blacksheep worked with local Management Consultants Compass to Develop our strategic plan for 2022-2025.

    • Our Sponsorship program continued to expand their offerings. In 2021 we began our Trail Adoption Program. Sponsors are able to Adopt a Trail, they host a build day to maintain the trail along with a financial contribution.

    • Many more details are provided in the report below. Report available for download.
