We are excited to announce that on March 13thth, we will be hosting our annual Sleeping Giant Fat Bike Loppet. This year we will be having 3 course lengths, 8KM, 20KM, and for those who just love to ride in the snow, a 50KM. The 50KM will begin at 10:00am from the visitor’s center, and the rest of groups will begin at noon in order to finish closer to the same time.  Come out for the day and have an enjoyable ride through some of the best scenery Thunder Bay has to offer.

Blacksheep will be providing hot cocoa and a camp fire at the start for anyone that wants to come watch the race or just hang out.

All the courses begin and end at the Sleeping Giant visitor’s center, and there is parking available.  There is no per athlete fee this year, but everyone must register before hand and all vehicles that enter the park must display a valid park permit. Permits cost $15.50 per vehicle per day, or $99 per vehicle for an entire year. Permits can be purchased from pay-and-display machines at the Joeboy Lake Fee Station and at the Marie Louise Lake Park Office (in the nearby parking lot). Annual permits can be purchased from the Ontario Parks online store and can be mailed within Canada: https://reservations.ontarioparks.com/store/all?departmentId=-32728

Thunder Bay Nordic Trails also wanted us to mentioned that if you own a TBNT pass the pass is only good for anyone skiing. Everyone needs a separate permit if they wish to ride.

Please register by March 11rd, race plates will be made and assigned for each rider in order to help facilitate tracking the riders throughout the course. There are washrooms on site as well.  Hope to see the Thunder Bay Fat Bike community come together for a great ride!
