It goes without saying we all love trails, and especially well-maintained trails. Here are 4 ways you can help us keep our trails in great shape!

#1 – Come to a Trail Development Day

All of our trails are maintained by volunteers so the best way to help is to come out to a trail development day. We hold these events whenever we have a project to work on or volunteers wanting to come out and build. Projects vary from fixing drainage problems to carving in fresh bench cuts on a new trail! Keep an eye out for our builds on Facebook, or join our mailing list to be notified for a next build. You do not need to be a Blacksheep member to participate in these events.

#2 – Donate

Donations to our club help fund our trail building efforts. We are able to use our funds to leverage grants to double our investments on projects. This year we are spending $15,000 on our trail development projects. We wouldn’t be able to that without all of our generous donors and sponsors. If you would like to donate, please send us an email at info@blacksheepmtb.com or donate online through trailforks here.

#3 – Respect the Trails

Nothing breaks the hearts of our trail crews than to find a deep rut carved into a closed section of trail, especially when it is under construction. Our builders volunteer lots of their time to go out and build a trail for all to enjoy. So the least we can do is respect trail closures and stay off of new trails that are under construction. Nobody wants to return to a section they just worked on to redo what they have just done.

#4 – Ride through Puddles!

If you see a puddle on the trail please ride through it! Going around the puddle will only make things worse in the long run as that leads to the trail widening which is a headache to fix. If you ride through the puddle you will minimize damage to the trail and the surrounding terrain, then our trail crew is able to fix the problem without as much work.

A little extra help goes a long way, a couple of hours or a couple of bucks might not seem like much but it adds up quickly!
